The Tidewater Shell Door KnockerHand-chiseled in solid brass and presented in a gift box, the Tidewater Shell Door Knocker celebrates one of the most iconic motifs in American decorative arts, the shell. Naturally symmetrical and inherently elegant, shells have long symbolized refinement and coastal heritage, making them a favored design element. Shells were admired for their harmonious proportions and their ability to capture the flowing, intricate forms of the Rococo style. From Newport’s distinctive block-and-shell fronts to Boston’s sweeping bombé forms and Philadelphia’s bold one-of-a-kind carvings, each region brought its own artistry to the motif. Each knocker is artisan-made with subtle variations, giving every piece a unique character. Bold in weight yet graceful in detail, it adds timeless presence to any entryway, whether a historic home, coastal cottage, or modern residence.
- Dimensions: 6.65"H x 6.25"W

- Note: Variations and imperfections in these pieces are part and parcel of the artisanal production process, while unlacquered brass and bronze finishes develop a subtle opacification that, over time, bestows them with an exquisite patina.
